The d-force™ Race Team were nervous and excited for the first national of the year. Rover motocross track proved to be a difficult race as the conditions of the track were constantly changing.

In practice Kayla and Tiegan took it easy. The track was already rough as the ladies class were one of the last classes in the race order. The girls took their time trying to find a flow and check out the track.

With 8 ladies on the line and full support class, a good start was key in the first heat. Kayla didn’t get the start she had hoped for but worked her way to first and made the necessary passes within the first few corners. Tiegan managed an alright start and kept it steady as she was not used to the conditions. Tiegan went down a few laps into the race, resulting in a dislocated shoulder. She finished the heat and made the decision to end her race day early. Kayla kept it in first all the way.

Heat 2 the track was looking gnarly. Raaff had a difficult time on the first lap. In the 3rd corner, d-force Race Team’s Pocket Rocket #22, had a tumble and this left her in last place. Knowing she could be the points leader at the end of the day she gave it all she had. Kayla put herself right back in the number 1 spot, making up for her lost time. Kayla crossed the finish line and won by a whopping 1min 3sec.

Round 1 in the bag, as well as the toughest race of the year. It wasn’t the perfect race day for the girls, but they managed to identify their weak points and will be working harder to make the sponsors and themselves proud.

Round 2 will be held in Pietermaritzburg on the 7th April 2018.
