Round 3 of the National Motocross Series was a tough one at the Bloemfontein Motocross circuit (BORC Tempe) where it was bitterly cold and windy with the sun reflecting off the familiar red sand.

Our rider, Tiegan Reed #24 did not compete in this championship due to her shoulder rehabilitation but was there to support her team mate Kayla Raaff #22.

Practice heat was early in the day with the sun glaring down on the red sand and the wind not making it easy for the riders, but Kayla worked hard and manage to put in a successful lap time.

Unfortunately, Kayla's transponder wasn’t working in practice so that put her last for gate pick. Heat one Kayla didn’t get the greatest start as she got stuck behind some riders that kept her back for half the race, but pocket rocket Kayla managed to eventually pass them, but it was too late and found herself ending the race in 2nd place.

In heat two Kayla was ready for the challenge but had last gate pick again due to the issues with the transponder in the practice heat. Kayla stayed positive and got a better start keeping it safe with the strong wind picking up, a rough track and the sun now directly in her vision. She fought well to finish in 2nd again, giving her a second overall for the day.

Being the points leader through consistency, Kayla retains the red plate and is looking forward to the 4th round in July at Terra Topia in Gauteng.
