The Grainger Racing KTM motocross team has been formed to assist the Zimbabwe based riders that have shown talent and commitment to the sport. The team principal, Gary Grainger, has been assisting young riders for the past 6 years with their dreams of becoming international racers. From supplying motorcycles to assisting with travel and logistics for the SA National series, Gary has always ensured that the Zimbabwean kids had the means and the belief to take on our neighbors.
Through the years Gary and Alfie Cox formed a strong relationship through the supply of motorcycles and assistance for our riders when abroad. This has enabled them to formulate a strong foundation on which to base a formal team that can support the riders. The team was formalized in December 2016 when the opportunity arose to assist some of Zimbabwe’s top riders and the industry was ready to support the commitment Gary had shown to the KTM brand. Since its birth, we have received great support and continue to search for assistance for our riders to ensure they get to the start line more prepared than the competition.
The riders in the team where selected from the core group that have been racing in Zimbabwe and SA for the past few years. These riders have shown the talent and commitment as you will see in their profiles below.

Damon has been based in England for the past 6 years pursuing his MX career. His family is origionally from Gweru, although Damon did all his junior racing in SA. Damon will be racing the SA and British National series and has been brought into the team to lead our youngsters and mentor them in their plight to become professional racers.

Daiyaan is possibly the most self-motivated kid I have seen in the sport. He has shown that he will not settle for second best and is always able to up the tempo under pressure. He has proved to be the top rider in his age group and continues to work hard at improving as he gains experience. He is the favourite to win the SA Nationals in his last year on the 65cc.

At the age of 7, Luke is a rider we have identified as a great future prospect. As a junior 50cc rider he has shown that he can progress into a top contender when he reaches the maximum age for the class. His family has a long history of racing and have shown great commitment to the sport over the years.

As the Veteran of our team, Bonz has been racing since his junior 80cc days. He has decided to return to competitive racing in the newly formed 2 Stroke class on his KTM 250sx. His “Old School” experience and love for the sport are a huge asset to the team.

Ash is a welcome new addition to our team, Ash has been racing since the tender age of 4 years old, and over his time has won several Zimbabwe championships, fared well in the sa championships and won a few FIM championships, Hi experience and mannerisms will go a long way to supporting our junior riders, as he has often been the Zimbabwe MX captain for our FIM events
